Methodology.
How a forecast becomes a Signal, how paper results are measured, and how the on-chain receipt keeps the record honest.
What qualifies as a Signal
The desk prices every tracked market independently: event contracts on Polymarket and Kalshi, perp-implied odds on Hyperliquid, and Robinhood Chain stock-token markets. A forecast becomes a Signal only when three conditions hold at once:
- An edge. The gap between the desk's fair price and the market price is at least 6¢ on the signaled side.
- A catalyst. A near-term, nameable reason the market may close the gap: a scheduled data release, a resolution deadline, a court date, an earnings print.
- A defined exit. The fair price, or day 7, whichever comes first. Every Signal ships with its exit written down at publication.
If no market clears all three by 11:00 a.m. ET, no Signal is published that day. The bar does not bend to the calendar.
How paper results are calculated
Each Signal receives an equal $100 paper stake at its published reference entry, the market price quoted in the Signal at publication time. The paper position closes at the day-7 mark, or at the resolution price if the market settles earlier. Return is the percentage change in the cost of the signaled side from entry to close.
Open positions are marked to the current market price and included in the average; the win rate uses closed positions only. Paper results exclude fees, bid-ask spread, slippage, taxes, and execution constraints. They are a measurement device, not a promise of replicable returns.
The commit-reveal receipt
At publication, the full Signal text (market, side, reference entry, fair price, thesis, target, exit) is serialized, hashed, and the hash is written to Robinhood Chain (chain id 4663, 100ms blocks, settled to Ethereum). At exit, the plaintext is published. Anyone can recompute the hash and compare it with the commitment; the block timestamp proves when the call was made.
This is what makes the track record trustless: a published record can be edited, backfilled, or survivorship-biased. An on-chain commitment cannot. Deleted calls would leave orphaned commitments; edited entries would break the hash. A verification walkthrough lives in the docs.
How the desk prices a market
The forecasting system combines broad evidence, 6,000+ global sources read continuously, with scored expert judgment across geopolitics, tech, macroeconomics, and AI. Every expert's weight derives from their scored record, not their reputation. The output is a fair price in cents, formed independently of the market price.
The architecture follows what the public evaluations reward: agentic research systems with statistical calibration have reached parity with the median human superforecaster on market questions (Brier 0.0753 against 0.074 on ForecastBench's market series). Calibration, not confidence, is the product.
Why mispricing exists at all
Prediction markets cleared $44.8B in combined monthly volume by June 2026, yet the academic record documents systematic distortions: an overtraded default/"Yes" side, a favorite-longshot reversal on decentralized venues, and roughly $40M paid out to arbitrage participants on one venue alone. Retail flow prices stories; the desk prices base rates. The gap between the two is the edge. When it comes with a catalyst and an exit, it becomes a Signal.
What this is not
Ykicis publishes research. It does not operate a trading venue, accept customer funds, place trades, custody assets, or provide individualized advice. Members decide whether and how to act, and transact directly with third-party venues subject to those venues' rules and their own eligibility.
